Department Programs Overview
The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders (formerly Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology) at New York University (NYU) Steinhardt offers programs leading to the Master of Science (MS), advanced certificate, and doctoral degree (PhD). NYU was one of the first universities to offer advanced degree programs in speech-language pathology and audiology in the New York area. The MS program has been continuously accredited by ASHA for over 20 years. Located in Greenwich Village, NYU is an integral part of the metropolitan community of New York City. The city's extraordinary resources enrich both the academic programs and the experience of attending the Steinhardt School.
Highlights
The Department's new facilities house research and teaching labs with state-of-the-art equipment. Students conduct hearing tests using a new audiology booth. Testing and data collection rooms for children and adults with communicative disorders are outfitted with digital cameras so students can analyze one-on-one sessions between subjects and researchers MS students complete a minimum of one semester of evaluation and one semester of treatment, both on campus in the department's state-of-the-art Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic; one semester in an off-campus pediatric setting; and one semester in an off-campus adult setting A summer study abroad program is offered in Lund, Sweden

Buildings & Resources
In addition to the various campus facilities available at the university, graduate students work and study with the department's Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, which provides services to the University and community at large. The clinic specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the various disorders of speech, language, and hearing. Graduate student clinicians provide speech and language diagnosis, speech and language therapy, individual and group sessions, and hearing screenings. The physical facilities of the clinic are located within and adjacent to the department offices.
